Getting
to interviews
Getting
time off work
First of all, ensure that you get as much advance notice
of the interview as possible; a week is normal. Arrange for time
off immediately - dont leave it until the last minute.
If you need to take a full day, ensure that you make the most of
the time off and that the interview is an important one.
It is often easier to take a half day, especially at the start or
end of the week, to lengthen the weekend. You are less likely to
be missed at times of less activity.
If interviews are close to your workplace or home, then try to organise
them for first or last thing in the day, when you can easily be
excused for a personal appointment
Plan
ahead!
Work out your route
Print a map from the internet (or the map Placement UK provide)
Assess how long it will take you to get there
Arrange to have transport if required
Buy any transport tickets in advance
Bring 2 copies of your CV, so that you are prepared, even if the
client is not.
Work out what you will be wearing the night before rather than panicking
on the morning of the interview.
